The opening verse paints a vivid picture of a man torn by regret. “Same bed, but it feels just a little bit bigger now,” encapsulates the gaping void left by his departed love. “Our song on the radio, but it don’t sound the same,” Mars is telling us that nostalgic memories are now saturated with sadness and pain.
He pours his heart out in the chorus, “That I should’ve bought you flowers and held your hand. It’s an emotional roller-coaster filled with raw honesty, and, in my opinion, one of Bruno Mars’ standout performances.
